MD500Es
MD Helicopters
CEO Lynn Tilton
shared a number
of updates about
the Mesa, Ariz.-based company
at Heli-Expo,
including the
appointment of
a new president,
Robert Molsbergen. He comes from
Innovation Plus, where he was president
and a board member.
The company has also handed over
three MD500Es to the Houston Police
Department’s Air Support Division and
one to Metro Air Support in St. Louis.
Houston PD now operates a total of 10
MD500Es. Metro Air covers missions for
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department and St. Louis County PD.

Heli-Expo Briefs
IESI Picked for Eurocopters
Thales has secured an agreement to provide
Eurocopter with its integrated electronic
standby instrument (IESI) for the Ecureuil
family and the EC175. The program
includes the EC135, EC145, EC155 and the
military versions of those helicopters. In
other news, Thales will equip its 160-amp
starter generators on the Blue Hawaiian
Helicopters fleet of Eurocopter AS350B2s
and EC130B4s. The French company also
displayed its TopDeck helicopter avionics
suite on a Sikorsky S-76D during Heli-Expo 2010.
Russians Come to Expo
A delegation from the Russian helicopter
industry held a press conference during
Heli-Expo to detail developments in the
country’s rotorcraft sector. Representatives
from Kamov, the Mil Moscow helicopter
plant, Oboronprom United Industrial
Corp., Progress Arseniev Aircraft Co.,
Russian Helicopters, Ulan-Ude Helicopter
Plant and UTair hosted a “Russian Hour,”
along with the Helicopter Association
of Russia and International Helicopter
Industry Exhibition (HeliRussia 2010).
Models of the Kamov Ka-32A11BC and
Mil Mi-171 were available at the booth.
Turbomeca Enlists Rotortech
West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Rotortech
Services has joined the Turbomeca service
center network. Fixed-base operator
(FBO) and on-wing support, repairs,
maintenance, parts and tooling are among
the services available at the Part 145 repair
station. Turbomeca, part of the Safran
Group, is planning to establish additional
service centers in North America.
Climate Control From Air Comm
Air Comm Corp. has launched its digital
climate control system for helicopters.
The Boulder, Colo.-based company is
developing the system, which features Air
Comm software, for the Bell 429. FAA
certification of the climate control system
is expected in late 2010.
